The Gospel
“Gospel” means good news. The Gospel isn’t just any good news, it is the good news about Jesus! The Gospel is the life-altering truth that Jesus died, was buried, rose again on the third day, and ascended into heaven to guarantee the salvation of those who believe on his name!
THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPEL HINGES ON FOUR ESSENTIAL CONCEPTS:
God's Holiness
God is a holy God. He is completely unique and set apart from His creation. He is the only true lawgiver and all standards of morality are measured by His character and His decrees. There is none like God!
I Peter 1:15-16
But like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written: “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”

Isaiah 6:3
And one called out to another and said, “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of armies. The whole earth is full of His glory.”

Exodus 15:11
Who is like You among the gods, Lord? Who is like You, majestic in holiness, Awesome in praises, working wonders?

Man's Sinfulness
Man was born into this world in sin and separated from God. God’s holiness demands a punishment for sin: death and eternal separation from God. Men are helpless in themselves to avoid the penalty for their sin.
Ezekiel 18:20
The person who sins will die. A son will not suffer the punishment for the father’s guilt, nor will a father suffer the punishment for the son’s guilt; the righteousness of the righteous will be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked will be upon himself.

Romans 3:10-13
As it is written: “There is no righteous person, not even one; There is no one who understands, there is no one who seeks out God; they have all turned aside, together they have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, there is not even one.”

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Christ's Sufficiency
God sent His Son Jesus as a sinless sacrifice to die in the place of sinful men. Jesus provided a sacrifice that no one else could give and took all of the penalty for sin. He perfectly fulfilled God’s requirement for man’s sin!
Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Hebrews 10:12
But He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God.

I Peter 3:18
For Christ also suffered for sins once for all time, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit.

Personal Faith
All those who turn to Jesus in repentance and faith will be forgiven of their sin and restored to a right relationship with God the Father. Through faith, believers are added to God’s family and forever saved from judgement!
John 3:16-18
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. The one who believes in Him is not judged; the one who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

Acts 16:31
They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Romans 10:13
For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

At Faith, we seek to understand and grow in appreciation of the incredible sacrifice Jesus made for our sins by becoming better followers of Jesus. We hope that this flows out of our lives through speaking the Gospel to believers inside the church and sharing the Gospel with unbelievers outside the church: making more and better disciples!
